Caging: They can live in a large, deep outdoor pond or in an indoor 125 galllon tank.
Lighting and Temperature: The cool area needs to be 70-80 degrees, the basking area needs to be 80-90 degrees, and the water needs to be 72-76 degrees. A UVB bulb is needed.
Substrate: Gravel can be used for the water area and soil can be used for the terrestrial area.
Food: These turtles are omnivores so they need to eat reptomin, cichlid sticks, feeder fish, earthworms, lettuce and romaine.
Water: The swimming area should be deeper for the adults and somewhat shallower for the hatchlings.
Handling: To hold, put thumb on the plastron and put forefinger on the carapace.
