Carpet Chameleon
Price: 50-100 US dollars
Size: 5-8 inches
Lifespan:3-5 years is only how long they will live.
Caging: A 1 foot wide by 1 foot long by 3 foot tall screen enclosure works best. All chameleons need tall enclosures.
Lighting and Temperature: 60-70 degrees is alright for the cool side, the basking side should be 70-80 degrees. A UVB bulb and heat lamp is needed.
Substrate: No substrate is recommended although a layer of paper towels can be used.
Food: Mealworms, crickets, and waxworms should be fed.
Water:They dont drink from bowls so ice cubes dripping from the top of their enclosure, a dripper system, a dixie cup with a hole in the bottom, or misting daily all work.
Handling: Handlign should be allowed at a minimum although carpet chameleons are more readily tamed than other species.
Tips: As with all chameleons, many plants, live recommended, should be used to give them shade, climbing places, and security.
